Theatre

@teatroditerra was born from an idea of Soledad Nicolazzi director, actress, author and theatrical trainer and Dalia Padoa author, actress and translator.
From the dream of founding in Carrara a small theater built in green building, a space open to the performing arts to give a home to all that for twenty years experimenting with passion: Writing civil theater performances based on historical research, sociological, interviews; popular music and singing; meeting of performative and figurative art and shows aimed at childhood; theatrical training for children, adolescents, adults in different contexts in Italy and abroad.

But Teatro di Terra, which is still in gestation is already many other people, who in recent months are building it: Matteo Serafin, journalist, therapist, currently multifaceted foreman; Dino Mengucci, founder of the center for environmental education Panta Rei in Umbria; Emiliana Melchiori, social expert; Gaia Pivac videomaker; Tina Anastasi, ludopedagogista; Alem Teklu, figurative artist; the group of the Theatre Observatory in Carrara; the choir "Malerbe"; and all those who supported us and who came to give us time, ideas and passion.

@teatroditerra was born in 2023, in a place full of history: at the end of the colorful and characteristic alley of Via San Piero, in the historic center of Carrara. The property is a former dilapidated shed that has been cleared and cleaned up. Then the construction works began and friends from the territory arrived from other parts of Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland and Mexico.
Teatro di Terra is realized in self-building, with ecological and eco-sustainable techniques. The main technique used for walls is straw earth (torchis). What we are realizing is a small theater room, to host shows, workshops and events for adults and children; that can become a reference point, a meeting place for performing artists where those who want to experiment in the art of theater feels welcomed.

Currently he is dealing with the finishing of the walls of Terra Theatre, Alem Teklu, figurative artist: during the days of "Open Studies" we will be happy to welcome you and if you want to try the technique of earthenware plaster we have gloves for everyone!

In recent months we have realized DIY workshops for adults and children: with the "Barefoot" Association, the Artistic High School of Carrara and with anyone who wanted to experiment; we organized evenings with the circle of Bacchanals, with dances and music to finance us, gather material and ideas; staged a spectacle of children’s shadows that, given the ongoing construction, could be seen from across the river. Recently we hosted Juan Pablo Bonetti from Uruguay, expert in ludopedagogy, who started us to play in a beautiful sunny weekend, in the squares of the city.

In short, Teatro di Terra, even before being born already overflows: we care about our home, the earth. And we like to play with the boundaries between subjects and disciplines, invade the squares, do things seriously without taking ourselves too seriously.

Come and visit us!

PS: if you want to come and give us a hand from outside Carrara we host you!
