I was born and raised in Carrara, and I recently graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in my hometown, with a degree in Graphic Design for Communication. In my work, I always seek a balance between technical precision and visual sensitivity, and illustration has become an ideal medium for exploring this equilibrium. My practice ranges from editorial design to illustration and printmaking, exploring a variety of subjects with a particular focus on architecture and medieval and Renaissance miniatures.
For this event, I have chosen to exhibit a series of ink pen illustrations alongside several etchings from the Idealis Urbe project. The works depict architectural structures recreated with an almost obsessive attention to detail. Through the stark contrast of black ink on white paper and the engraving process, I strive to convey the silent strength of certain built forms—often overlooked, yet capable of telling much more than what initially meets the eye. Working in black and white, using such direct and unforgiving media, forces me into a constant dialogue with detail and space.
Idealis Urbe
The project I have chosen to exhibit for this event draws inspiration from the concept of the Renaissance ideal city, a theme that has been explored by many artists throughout history, each offering their own interpretation. The work on display is my personal reimagining of that urban ideal and the values that shaped it: elegance, balance, harmony, and beauty.
The depicted structures are entirely of my own invention—they are not real buildings, but imagined constructions, designed according to the same aesthetic and symbolic principles that guided Renaissance artists.
The project, which began in 2024 and is still ongoing, was created using mixed techniques: freehand ink drawing and etching, resulting in prints, illustrated foldouts, and architectural studies.
