Silvia Gelmetti
Silvia Gelmetti, born in Parma on March 4, 2000, began her artistic career with advanced studies at the Paolo Toschi Art High School in Parma. She continued her academic studies in sculpture, initially at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, where she is currently completing her studies. During her path, she took part in several educational opportunities, including a one-year exchange program at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. There, she expanded her research into graphic arts, exploring the main traditional graphic techniques (engraving, lithography, and screen printing).
The following two enriching years were marked by two trips to Chile, during which—and continuing to this day—her main project, “Us and the Circus, Us in the Circus,” took shape. This research is based on social and identity reflections, focusing on micro-worlds that operate independently within a much larger system, where we, almost like ants, keep moving—perhaps out of inertia or perhaps to discover who we really are and what truly surrounds us.
