Thomas Marchi

My name is Thomas Marchi, I was born in Carrara in 1998 and I mainly work with marble.

I grew up in Torano, the "village of artists", where every summer art comes to life in the narrow streets. Walking among those installations as a child awakened a sensitivity in me that I now recognize as the origin of everything.

After attending the Carrara School of Marble, I worked for years at the SGF workshop—a place that refined my technique, inspired my style, and ignited in me the need to express what I had always felt but never truly let out.

For me, art is breath and therapy. When I sculpt, everything loosens: thoughts, tension, weight. It’s a process that lightens me from within, just as it happens with marble, which must be carved, hollowed out, and freed to reveal its form.
Every gesture removes material and, at the same time, restores balance within me.

My works combine geometric precision and abstraction. I love clean, sinuous lines, visual continuity, and that three-dimensionality that makes the eye pause. In form, I seek order—but also depth.

My sculptures speak of inner transformation and human connection: they are silent, evocative reflections, open to the interpretation of those who observe them.

Alongside sculpture, I nurture a passion for design and light, creating objects that interact with space through geometric cuts and carefully designed, well-defined beams of light.
