Chen Jiachen
"Light gives me the courage to look straight into the unknown darkness."
Chen Jiachen was born on June 9, 1996, in Luoyang, Henan Province, China. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the College of Fine Arts at Central South University for Nationalities, and his graduation works were acquired by the Guanggu Art Museum.
He later moved to Italy to study in the Decoration Department at the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara, specializing in marble sculpture. He was selected for the Italian National Art Prize for two consecutive years and has participated in numerous group exhibitions and shows supported by the Municipality of Carrara. A solo exhibition is scheduled in Italy in 2025.
His current artistic practice focuses mainly on sculptures, projects, and installations that combine marble and LED lighting. As a Chinese artist living in Europe, Chen merges Eastern cultural heritage and aesthetics with Western materials, design styles, and minimalist concepts. His research constantly explores the balance between these elements, blending the aura of two worlds to create his own unique artistic language.
