Studio Raven is located at the foot of the quarries in the Mortarola area on the old Carriona di Colonnata Municipal Road. In the past, carts used to pass through here, along the Carrione river. Mortarola is a small hamlet with 4 houses where shepherds and quarrymen used to live. In the various visible and still active caves, mortars (called "mortari" in the Carrara dialect) were carved, hence the name Mortarola. Studio Raven is completely outdoors, with just the necessary tools to sculpt amidst nature, where Raven creates his figurative sculptures and commissioned design objects. The space is large enough to be shared with other sculptors during the summer months. Additionally, Sculpture Courses for foreigners are held in collaboration with a Dutch sculpture center. The studio is open from April to October, and during the winter months, Raven works as a restorer of marble works (churches, cemeteries, museums, and private gardens) in the Netherlands.
